Why Your Donations Matter

As Steven Cojocaru once said, “The gift that has been given to me says much about our capacity to great compassion and generosity, and I hope it sends a message to others about the importance of organ donation.”

At the Children’s Organ Transplant Society (COTS) we wish to emulate this same hope for children who are awaiting or have received an organ transplant in British Columbia. As a registered charity, we support transplant children and their families through medical and non-medical funding, camp, educational events and awareness, as well as peer programming. We are a community and support network. A helping hand and shoulder to cry on. A space to heal and learn. We witness families as they move through the most traumatic experience of their life and provide financial, emotional, psychological, and social support to help them cope. The generosity of folks like you allows us to spread hope to BC’s transplant children and their families.

With support like yours, we can make a difference.

Legacy Giving

Legacy Giving ensures your support makes a lasting impact on BC’s transplant children and families for years to come. It is the act of transferring assets to a nonprofit organization during a lifetime or after death.

  • A simple and common planned gift where a donor leaves a specific amount or portion of their estate in their will. The donor retains control of their assets during their lifetime and can receive tax credits on their estate.

  • A donor can designate a beneficiary for their RRSP/RRIF, which is treated as a charitable donation in the year of death.

Gift of Life Insurance

Allow the Children’s Organ Transplant Society to be part of your legacy by naming us in your life insurance. Your gift will carry your memory forward and nourish the next generation of transplant children.

  • A gift of life insurance allows you to make a substantial donation at a relatively low cost. Tax benefits will apply.
